-breaking storm for them. new york city's probably going to be in the 12 to 18-inch range. here in boston, we are under blizzard warnings now. blizzard conditions expected with the prolonged time of wind and heavy snow. the snow is really picking up in boston right now. the radar showing it's all snow. temperatures there below freezing and the timing is such that the snow will continue to pick up over the next few hours. by nightfall, probably two to four inches of snow. blizzard conditions this evening. probably 25 to 40 hello mile-her hof sustained winds and through the night and even rising to 35 to 60-mile-per-hour range. 12 to 18 inches more falling and then tomorrow morning beginning to see it taper off and additional five inches could fall and blizzard conditions for a while longer, perhaps even after the snow tapers off and visibility will be very low. we'll continue to watch all of new england, as well as new york city, which is under that blizzard threat, as well. you're under a blizzard warning from new york northward and out toward long island and seeing the possibility of gusty w

on the northeast. could bring easily up to 2 feet to new york city, long island, all of connecticut, all of rhode island, eastern massachusetts, coastal new hampshire and maine blizzard warnings. millions of people, hours left to prepare, the blizzard of 2013 is starting today. you can see where it's located behind me, off the outer banks of north carolina, the heavy rain shield goes up through the mid-atlantic, all the way into southern jersey. the snow part of the storm has yet to begin. that will happen as we go through the morning hours and especially after noon today into new england. that's really your cut-off time if you're anywhere from federal jersey northward. whatever you have to get done, you'll do it in rain this morning. after about noon, get off the roads. that's when we could get stuck and we want plows to be able to clear everything out. as far as the snow totals go, this is the latest thinking on the storm. we're looking at the possibility of over 2 feet in a huge section of eastern new england. that's the historic part of the storm, from the boston area down to providence. look

all of new york state through vermont and new hampshire. some of our big cities, new york city's the trickiest forecast along with long island and coastal connecticut. we're going to go from snow tomorrow morning to a period of rain and heavy rain friday. and then over to a period of heavy snow as the storm leaves late friday night. that's why the storm totals are lower there. but hartford's going to be in the bull's-eye. again, boston, 18 to 24 inches possible. so that would probably cripple boston. travel would be difficult probably till maybe saturday night or maybe sunday morning. make your plan as cordingly. i know airlines are already starting to cancel flights and letting you change stuff for free. go ahead and do that now while you can. more updates throughout the morning here on "morning joe." we're brewed by starbucks. how do you keep an older car running like new? you ask a ford customer. when they tell you that you need your oil changed you got to bring it in. if your tires need to be rotated, you have to get that done as well. jackie, tell me why somebody should br

1st, everything from food safety to airline safety is going to be squeezed. for instance, every city with an airport is going to feel the pain. the faa and the tsa plan to furlough 4700 workers, which will add at least an hour to the security line. i bet you're looking forward to that. for the northeast, serious problems. some families would face a much colder winter. in vermont, the heating assistance program could lose $177 million, risking 46,000 families living in poverty. in new york, communities are just getting back on their feet in the wake of super storm sandy. but sequestration could carve 5% out of that relief fund. that's a loss of $800 million meant for 10,000 homes and businesses throughout the area. in states like louisiana, the republican defense cuts could hurt the most. the army is bracing for $58 million in cuts to louisiana military bases, which add up to taking $113 million out of the local economy and costing almost 4,000 jobs. our congressional panel tonight, let's turn to it. we're bringing people in who are going to feel the pain of sequestration on a local l

these major city that is were largely black and brown. the republican party today is still playing on that script. as we know with the demographic shifts, that's a losing proposition if you stay with it for so long. what they've done is instead, they have recruited some very able candidates, ted cruz, marco rubio, people of color who can carry the gop banner who are certainly absolute conservatives, but the issue is it is not who carries the banner. it's what that flag stands for. and unless and until the republican party does some real work, real hard look at its policy and just how, you know, the animosity they have had through black and brown communities, until they do that work i don't see a pathway back. >> in another article roger says this about the president. i'm quoting him. he's too busy getting the middle class to hate rich people, blacks to hate whites. i'm now going to quote the third sentence, the third sentence of the president's inaugural address last month. what binds this nation together is not the colors of our skin, nor the tenets of our faith or the origins of

for you. boston, this could be a significant snow, especially north and west of the city. especially here in to southern new hampshire and parts of massachusetts. we are talking about at least half a foot of snowfall. boston, this is the third weekend in a row of dealing with not only snow but wind, as well. tomorrow night, really cranking especially inland areas albany, new york, to montpelier, vermont, and new hampshire looking at a lot of snow and that wind is blowing it and drifting it around and then as we head toward sunday we could see some rain mixing in for boston. and if that happens, that will hold down whatever accumulations we can expect to see. so for boston, right now, officially we are going 1 to 3 inches. that could change, of course, depending on the exact track of that low. but further inland, look at that. a swath of 6 to 12 inches. even in to portions of massachusetts where you're still digging out from nemo. remember, that wind is howling, it is cold right through early sunday morning, as well. for boston, a winter storm watch in effect. cloudy skies in the day. snow
